Although the weather is getting chillier, it's always the season for an iced drink from Starbucks. This summer, the only thing I could think about was the vanilla sweet cream cold brew, and it was my experimenting with new drinks at Starbucks that kickstarted my coffee addiction (I'm a little late to the game, I know, but I'm here now nonetheless). My consistent craving for this drink became a terrible, albeit delicious, habit that could only be combated with cheaper and healthier options that I could make at home. I also made Trader Joe's a larger part of my weekly grocery shopping routine. Their new COVID-19 regulations meant there was always a long line outside, but somehow it only made me want to go in even more. As a result, I discovered tons of yummy options for lunches and dinners that have become regulars now that school is back in session.
Now for the exciting part. TikTok user Sarah, who goes by @onlytraderjoesrecipes, has found a way to combine two of my newfound loves from this summer: Starbucks and Trader Joe's. For days when the classic Starbucks drink just isn't worth the drive to pick it up, use this copycat iced Starbucks caramel macchiato recipe that uses ingredients exclusively from Trader Joe's.
To make the iced caramel macchiato, simply add heated caramel sauce to an ice-filled glass — use Trader Joe's signature caramel sauce, called Trader Jacques' Fleur de Sel Caramel Sauce. Next, pour in your milk of choice (the Starbucks recipe uses nonfat dairy milk), then add cold brew coffee. Sarah recommends TJ's Organic French Roast Coffee. The Starbucks recipe includes three pumps of vanilla-flavored syrup, so you can add that for extra vanilla flavoring, if needed. Stir and enjoy!
