Demi Lovato has a nickname for negative self-talk: roommates. "Those voices in your head can get really loud. I call them roommates, and the roommates in your head, they can be just as annoying as a real roommate," the singer recently said in an interview with Jimmy Fallon for The Tonight Show: At Home Edition.
In addition to delighting the talk-show host with her many talents — including an incredible Moira Rose impression — Demi spoke about the importance of checking in with one's self during this challenging time. She said, "Taking care of your mental health is just so important because we're alone with our thoughts right now. Some people don't have family with them, they don't have pets, and so really it's just them and their minds."
To cope, Demi recommended meditation, checking in with friends, or "whatever you can do to continue to grow spiritually and emotionally while we're stuck in these houses." She continued, "I think now is gonna be a critical point for humanity actually. If we don't change from this, it would be so sad. We all have to use this as an experience and a chance to grow." That being said, "It doesn't mean we have to write a New York Times bestseller during this quarantine." Noted. Watch the candid chat above.
