Playing Animal Crossing on a Nintendo Switch might be all the rage these days, but '90s babies know that taking care of a virtual pet on your Tamagotchi was probably the hobby of choice as middle schoolers. Well, Japanese toymaker Bandai America recently announced some delightful news for your middle school selves: a new Tamagotchi, called Tamagotchi On Wonder Garden, is almost here — and it's been upgraded.
Not only does the virtual toy come in two cute colors, lavender and turquoise, but the latest version also offers an updated home screen, as well as exciting features like games in your town, exclusive characters, and even the option for your Tamagotchi to get married and have children. But don't worry, your middle school self will still recognize the Tamagotchi On Wonder Garden's button controls, characters, and interface.
Priced at $60, the Tamagotchi On Wonder Garden is launching at mass retailers like Target, Amazon, and GameStop nationwide on July 26, but it's available for preorder now. While the brand relaunched its original Tamagotchi in 2018 and came out with a modernized version, Tamagotchi On, in 2019, the newest still retains the same nostalgia of its '90s origin. Get a closer look at the new Tamagotchi ahead, and find out how you can preorder this beloved toy.
