Like a tornado of luxury outfits, house porn, and petty arguments between California's most dysfunctional mothers, Big Little Lies is back in our lives. The HBO drama returned for a second season on June 9, and although some fans of the Liane Moriarty adaptation were skeptical if the Monterey Five's stories even needed to continue, it seems HBO has a pretty compelling season in mind for stars Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Zoë Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley and new addition Meryl Streep. But just how many episodes are planned for the second installment of Big Little Lies?
According to the network, you'll be able to enjoy four more episodes of the show, making the second season seven episodes long in total. So far only the first three episode titles have been announced: the premiere, "What Have They Done?"; episode two, "Tell-Tale Hearts"; and episode three, "The End of the World." All episodes are being directed by Andrea Arnold, who's taken over directing duties brilliantly from season one's Jean-Marc Vallée (who's still on board season two as executive producer).
As for what's in store for the characters of the show, which will air well into July? We can only imagine that there will be plenty more disturbing (and borderline hilarious) primal screams from Streep's Mary Louise, who is dead-set on uncovering the truth about what happened to her late son, Perry (Alexander Skarsgard). Let's hope the Monterey Five can keep it together.
