Update: On Monday, Aug. 12, Liam Hemsworth spoke about his split from Miley Cyrus with a heartfelt Instagram post. He confirmed that he has not made and will not be making "any comments to any journalists or media outlets."
Original story: Liam Hemsworth is breaking his silence following his breakup with Miley Cyrus. On Monday, the 29-year-old actor appeared a bit downcast when he stepped out for frozen yogurt in his native Australia with his older brother Chris. According to People, Liam briefly commented on the split while speaking with Daily Mail Australia. "You don't understand what it's like," Liam reportedly told the outlet. "I don't want to talk about it mate."
Liam and Miley first met on the set of their 2009 film, The Last Song, and dated on and off for a decade. In December 2018, they finally made things official with an intimate ceremony at their Tennessee home. However, their marriage was short-lived as they separated in August. In a statement to People over the weekend, a rep for Miley said the couple "have decided this is what's best while they both focus on themselves and careers" and "they still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share."
While the reason for their split still remains unclear, Miley was recently spotted kissing The Hills star Kaitlynn Carter in Italy. Coincidentally, Kaitlynn also recently called it quits with husband Brody Jenner, one year after their Indonesian wedding.
