Hollywood golden couple Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have had no shortage of adorable moments together since they began dating in 1983. While they've appeared on screen as costars plenty of times, one of the pair's greatest roles was actually as presenters at the 1989 Oscars, which the Academy helpfully reminded us all of with a vintage video posted on Facebook. In it, Kurt and Goldie — who have famously eschewed marriage in favor of a more nonformal commitment to each other — couldn't help but have a little fun with the audience while presenting the award for best director.
"I was just thinking about how we fit in completely with the theme of the show," Goldie said. "We're costars, we're compadres, we're companions, and we're a couple!" Kurt helpfully pointed out there's only "one thing" they're not: married. Goldie giggled and asked Kurt if that was "a proposal," as the audience went wild. Unfortunately for all of us, Kurt joked that the Academy wanted them to speed things up and he'll have to discuss it with her later. Goldie's reaction to that was priceless, so watch the cute clip above! And then, because we know you can't get enough of Kurt and Goldie, take a walk down memory lane and see more photos of their romantic night at the award show ahead.
