Winter presents its own unique set of challenges: commuting with 20 layers only to sweat it out on public transportation, staticky windblown hair, and noses that never seem to stop running. But no challenge is like that of dry and flaky skin, especially when it's on your face. Enter the Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial ($52).

Drunk Elephant's new mask promises "dewy and rejuvenated" skin after overnight use. When I tried it, I noticed that the formula, which comes in similar packaging to its other facial treatments, has a texture somewhere between the brand's slick B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum and rich Protini Polypeptide Moisturizer. I found it to be light and nongreasy, but it leaves a dewy sheen on my skin. The mask also contains tiny beads of vitamin F, which are actually the fatty acids linolenic and linoleic, that burst when you apply it to help lock in moisture and hydration.

The first night, I went about my normal nighttime skincare routine by putting on Drunk Elephant's T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum and followed it with the new mask. When I woke up the next morning, I noticed that the formula had completely absorbed into my skin, leaving it soft and supple with no signs of rough patches or breakouts. (Unlike some other overnight masks on the market, this one you can leave on in the morning and go about your day.)

To be sure it really worked as well as I thought, I tried the mask again a few nights later after I found a few particularly dry patches in my T-zone. This time, I used a different serum underneath to test its efficacy. When I woke up in the morning, the previously dry patches had disappeared, and even the redness had dissipated yet again.

Drunk Elephant's new hydrating mask may just be the holy grail product my rough, dry Winter skin has been craving that's also light enough to take me right through Summer when the sun can be harsh. A win-win.
